Pub Chain Wetherspoons Ditch Plastic Straws

ban plastic straws

High Street pub chain, JD Wetherspoons, has announced that it will be ceasing to use plastic straws from the end of the year. The pub chain says it will only use biodegradable paper straws from January 2018.

Wetherspoons joins All Bar One and some smaller pub chains in doing their bit to stop pollution of the ocean, and to support the Refuse the Straw campaign. It is claimed that 70 million plastic straws enter landfill or making their way into the world’s oceans each year, taking environmental pollution to catastrophic proportions.

With straws surely one of the easiest items to do without, it seems like an obvious move to us!
