We wrote to Warburtons about their Toastie bread, as we thought the wrapper was made of paper and therefore recyclable, but we wanted to check! Here is their answer! It is worth noting that normal plastic bread bags are now recyclable in most supermarket carrier bag recycling collection points!

In relation to your recycling enquiry, unfortunately the wax wrap on our 800g White sliced loaves is not currently recyclable.

Our packaging team works collaboratively with our suppliers, and with relevant trade associations to find out how we can make environmental improvements. Some examples of what we have done with our products includes:
- re-sealable packaging for our sandwich alternatives to improve freshness and manage food waste
- our bread bags are not a universal size, rather they are designed for each bakery product size, minimising unnecessary use of plastic material

Just to say I am a bit disappointed to learn your bread wrapping is not recyclable paper. It would be great if you could lead the way!
