Most of us over a certain age remember a simpler time when early mornings consisted of the musical hum of the milk float and a clink of a bottle as the milkman brought us cold fresh milk for our corn flakes. But with milk deliveries all but disappearing during the 80s and 90s as supermarkets took on the milk supply, it was quite a surprise to learn that in 2018 the milkman is making a welcome return to our doorsteps.

Yep, we’ve all done it. Picked up the packet of Fajita Seasoning thinking there’s a simple dinner. The motivation to make my own produce bag comes from a recent debate in the supermarket with my dear husband. For a long time, I have been content with weighing my produce and sticking the sticker onto one of the items. He did not share the same thoughts, however, and was putting potatoes into plastic bags!! So this is my attempt to dissuade him from this habit, although he looked unimpressed by my creation, and is yet to try it out! Regardless of what he thinks, I love it, and it is so easy to do!

If like me you are a fan of sticky spiced cakes you will love this. Given the seal of approval from my work colleagues, even converting those who don’t believe vegetables belong in a cake (although most class tomatoes as a salad or a fruit!) gave it rave reviews. It is after all, quite delicious.
Now we LOVE making handmade Christmas gifts! And we are embarking on a number of different versions thereof this year! In our view nothing is quite as good as receiving a gift that has been given someone’s love and attention in its creation, and of course, it is usually a very cost effective way of addressing your gifting needs. In our case, we also try to use up things that might otherwise get wasted along the way!
Autumn is turning, winter is on the horizon! We are all putting off turning our heating on until we absolutely have to! And if you are an energy customer of the ‘big six’ you will no doubt have had a letter over the course of the last year giving you details of a forthcoming increase in their prices! It’s not much to look forward to is it!
